Biography
Prof. Dr. med. Eric Giannoni is an Associate Professor at the University of Lausanne (UNIL) and has been a consultant in the neonatal unit at the University Hospital of Lausanne since 2006. He is co-leader of Work Package 4 (WP 4) in the Swiss Sepsis Program, where he contributes his expertise in neonatology to the development and implementation of clinical pathways and care models to improve sepsis care.
Prof Giannoni received his medical degree from the University of Lausanne, where he also trained in paediatrics, intensive care and neonatology. Between 2003 and 2006 he completed a clinical and research fellowship in neonatal and perinatal medicine at the University of California, San Francisco. His research focuses on neonatal innate immunity and sepsis, with a particular interest in host-pathogen interactions in early life through international collaborations. He also leads clinical trials to improve sepsis recognition, treatment and antibiotic use in neonates, contributing to the advancement of neonatal sepsis care and patient outcomes.
