Recognizing sepsis starts with knowledge

During a training session organized by the Safenwil AG Samaritan Association, the Swiss Sepsis Program contributed medical expertise as well as the perspectives of a patient and a family member. The session focused on the warning signs of sepsis and the question of when swift action is required.

What are the signs of sepsis? When should you be especially vigilant after an infection? And what should you do if your health suddenly takes a turn for the worse?

A specialized workshop organized by the Safenwil AG Samaritan Association addressed these questions. The Swiss Sepsis Program was represented at the event by an expert, a sepsis survivor, and a family member. This allowed medical information to be supplemented with personal experiences from the perspectives of those affected and their families.

Sepsis can develop from an infection and is always a medical emergency. That is why it is important to suspect sepsis and act quickly if a person’s condition suddenly and significantly worsens.

The sepsis check is available as a practical guide for recognizing warning signs. It helps you identify potential warning signs and be on the lookout if a person is feeling unusually unwell in connection with an infection. The sepsis check and additional informational materials are available at sepsis.ch/infomaterial .

We would like to thank the Safenwil Samaritan Association for the invitation, the great interest, and the open discussion.
