LUKS to Become a Pilot Hospital in the Swiss Sepsis Program
The Lucerne Cantonal Hospital (LUKS) is participating as a pilot hospital in the national Swiss Sepsis Program (SSP). The program’s goal is to further advance the early detection, treatment, and follow-up care of sepsis throughout Switzerland.

As part of Sepsis Awareness Day in mid-September at LUKS, experts discussed the importance of basic monitoring and an early warning system as the foundation of the sepsis program at LUKS, as well as the next steps for the program.
Pilot hospital with national responsibility
As a pilot hospital, LUKS is participating in the testing and further development of the national “Swiss Sepsis Pathway.” At the same time, LUKS is introducing new tools and processes to further strengthen early detection and treatment.
These include, among other things, digital support systems within the EPIC hospital information system, uniform monitoring standards, and standardized treatment protocols.
Working Together for Greater Patient Safety
Through its participation in the Swiss Sepsis Program, LUKS aims to detect dangerous complications earlier, further enhance patient safety, and sustainably improve patient care.
